TPE and Silicone: Revisiting the 2017 Comparison

A fresh reading of the material comparison published in May 2017, with the focus on a specific product and quotation.

On May 15, 2017, Doll Forever published an illustrated comparison of TPE and silicone dolls. The article emphasised TPE’s price positioning and discussed differences in appearance and feel. It presented the two materials in broad terms, rather than comparing named configurations under a documented test method.

Start with the exact product

The material label is one part of a specification. A practical comparison also needs the size, weight, construction, finish, included accessories and any optional features. Two products with different configurations cannot be judged fairly from material and headline price alone.

Ask each seller to identify the material used for the body and head. If a product combines materials or uses a particular branded formulation, request a clear description. Keep that wording with the quotation rather than relying on an abbreviation in a photograph caption.

Compare the ownership requirements

Request the care and storage instructions supplied with each option. Consider how you will receive, move and store the product, and whether the dimensions and weight fit your available space. These are concrete questions that can be answered without inventing a universal winner.

For price comparisons, use written quotations for equivalent configurations and the same destination. An older article’s general view of relative cost should not be treated as today’s price list. The right outcome is a well-defined choice with clear terms, rather than a material label standing in for a complete assessment.
